MILWAUKEE — On Saturday, February 28, 2009, the Greater Milwaukee Association of Legal Professionals (“GMALP”) presented Beverly G. Butula, Assistant Director of Library Services of the law firm of Davis & Kuelthau with the coveted NALS Foundation Scales of Justice Award. The Scales of Justice Award is an honor bestowed by the NALS Foundation to recognize persons or entities who exemplify the following qualities in their local community and legal field (e.g., speaking engagements, presentations, authoring articles and handouts, etc.):

• Improve access to justice
• Improve the quality of legal services
• Promote the legal profession
• Support the community where they work and live

Ms. Butula has been the librarian at Davis & Kuelthau since 2001. She is responsible for all aspects of library service and administration. She assists members of staff with research, reference, competitive intelligence, and cite checking. Prior to becoming a librarian, Ms. Butula was a litigation paralegal.

GMALP is a non-profit organization dedicated to the professional growth of legal support personnel through educational programs and the promotion of high standards and ethics.

The NALS Foundation strives to ensure top-notch legal services are the norm. It funds quality education programs for legal professionals working with attorneys and the public to enhance their skills and provide them with the latest information on their profession. The NALS Foundation also keeps the good of the legal profession in the public eye, emphasizing a positive image of the profession and the importance of qualified, competent legal professionals.
