MILWAUKEE – Davis|Kuelthau is pleased to announce senior attorney Gini L. Hendrickson has joined the firm’s Corporate Team. Her practice primarily focuses on trust and estate planning and related litigation for individuals, succession planning for family-owned businesses, and tax controversy, corporate law, employee benefits, and related litigation for small – midsize companies.
Gini has provided legal assistance to businesses and high net-worth individuals for nearly 20 years. In estate planning, Gini advises individuals and their families on all aspects of asset management while customizing estate plans to reflect each client’s specific goals, including asset protection planning, gift and estate tax strategies, income tax planning, wills and trusts, charitable planning, values-based planning, and special needs planning. Gini values the importance of having comprehensive estate plans to ensure that individual wishes are respected upon incapacity or death. When wills and trusts, competency factors, and fiduciary or beneficiary responsibilities are contested, Gini’s litigation know-how helps clients achieve resolve.
Specific to business clients, Gini guides family-owned and closely-held entities through tax planning as well as providing guidance through IRS audits, administrative appeals and litigation. She is admitted to the U.S. Tax Court as well as the Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
Gini also guides companies through various elements of employee benefits compliance including ERISA, HIPAA, fiduciary liability, and human resource audits. Gini has assisted business owners with property issues related to fire, asbestos, and other environmental concerns as well. She also advises clients dealing with intellectual property matters, breach of contracts, and establishing non-profit entities such as 501(c)3 organizations as well as corporate and family foundations.
Whether an individual or a business entity, Gini’s service approach is founded on her understanding of the importance of giving clients the support and guidance needed to address each unique circumstance, keeping them informed to make appropriate decisions for their situation.
Gini earned her Juris Doctorate from Pace University School of Law in New York and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh. After graduating, Gini built her practice serving clients in the Fox Valley region of Wisconsin. Prior to joining Davis|Kuelthau, Gini was a Shareholder and Chair of the Estate Planning and Probate Practice at a top Madison-based law firm.
Gini earned the designation as a Fellow and has been inducted into both the American Bar Association and the Wisconsin Law Foundation. She is the President and serves as a board member for the Madison Estate Council. Gini also serves on the board of the Madison Benefits Council. In addition to her legal practice, Gini is actively committed to serving the community. Gini’s philanthropic efforts have included support of Rawhide Boys Ranch as the Planned and Major Giving Advisor. She also served in a similar role in Australia on behalf of the Salvation Army. She provides pro bono services through the Wisconsin Wills for Heroes program assisting emergency personnel with their estate planning, a program created after the 9/11 tragedy which is near and dear to Gini as she was in living and working in NYC at the time.
