Attorney William Mulligan Receives Lifetime Achievement Award from Marquette University Law School

MILWAUKEE – Davis & Kuelthau, s.c. is proud to announce that attorney William J. Mulligan is this year’s recipient of Marquette University Law School’s Annual Lifetime Achievement Award. This distinct recognition is awarded to alumni who have reached and maintained career excellence and have demonstrated a strong commitment to furthering the mission of the law school through active leadership.

As perhaps best noted by Marquette’s public statement, “With the belief that preparation is a one-word formula for success, William Mulligan approaches each case as a chance to learn — the more complex, the better. That curiosity is a hallmark of the Law School’s 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award winner.”

Mulligan began his career in 1960, earning both his LL.B and B.S. degrees from Marquette. He also earned his M.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin. Since 1991, Mulligan has been a shareholder of Davis & Kuelthau where he represents individuals, businesses and local government entities in litigation matters including environmental, securities, antitrust, and insurance coverage disputes.

Mulligan’s wide range of professional and community activities include serving as a U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, serving as a special assistant to the U.S. attorney for the Northern District Illinois, co-founding and once serving as President of the National Association of Former U.S. Attorneys and Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Associations. As a Marquette alum, Mulligan has served as the Assistant Professor for the Trial Practice and Civil Procedure course and is former President of the Marquette Alumni Association.

“Bill is very deserving of this recognition,” said Kathy Nusslock, Head of the Firm’s Litigation Team. “He continues to provide exceptional legal counsel to his clients and has made significant contributions in the areas of litigation and environmental law to the legal, manufacturing, and business communities.”

The annual ceremony took place on April 24, 2014 at Eckstein Hall located on the Marquette Law School campus beginning at 5:00 p.m.
