Breakfast Briefing: Whose Employee Is It Anyway?

While you may have certain personnel performing services for you as independent contractors or employees of someone else, various laws may say differently. Worse yet, if you are wrong, significant financial costs may apply.

D&K presented, “Whose Employee Is It Anyway?”, a seminar addressing the differences in employee classifications and what it means to your company. Attorney James R. Macy of Davis & Kuelthau’s Labor and Employment Team and Robert A. Mathers of our Corporate Team discussed steps you can take to make sure those performing work are classified in the manner in which you want, and avoid unanticipated liability. In addition, for those you clearly intend to be employees, this program reviewed the aspects of exempt status versus non-exempt status. Prevention and careful review of these contracts now can save your company from unwanted costs later.

This complimentary seminar was held at the Hilton Garden Inn on Thursday, October 16. Registration and a continental breakfast ran from 7:30 – 8:00 AM., and the program ran from 8:00 – 9:00 AM.
