Corporate Paralegal

This position will be responsible for performing a wide variety of legal support functions in support of multiple attorneys in the Corporate and Real Estate Practice Teams as outlined below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • All aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including documentation, due diligence, closing and post-closing activities for real estate acquisitions, dispositions, finance, leasing, development and construction projects.
  • Ordering, reviewing and identifying issues with title insurance commitments, endorsements, exception documents and surveys, and interfacing directly with the title company and surveyor to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Preparing and administrating contract critical dates and closing checklists.
  • Coordinating and assisting with closings, including preparation of conveyance documents, closing statements, and other closing documents.
  • Attending to all post-closing requirements, including preparation of closing indices, the preparation and organization of closing binders, and monitoring all post-closing deliveries or requirements.
  • Preparing all documents required to form and organize corporations (both business and not-for-profit corporations), partnerships and LLCs.
  • Assisting with business merger, acquisition and sale transactions.
  • Preparing documentation for amendments, withdrawals, and dissolutions of corporations, partnerships and/or LLCs.
  • Creating and maintaining corporate and LLC minute books.
  • Preparing and filing of UCC filings and handle UCC filing search requests.

Required Education and Experience

  • Associate degree in paralegal or legal studies or paralegal certificate with one to two years of related experience or equivalent combination of education, work experience and training in law office setting preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and work under tight deadlines

Director of Information Technology

We are searching for a Director of Information Technology to oversee the development, implementation and use of technology throughout the firm, working closely with the practice teams of the firm to assess and address user and law practice needs. Areas of responsibility include the full range of information systems and telecommunications activities, including determining user requirements, recommending practical solutions and leading firm-wide efforts to improve the effective use of technology. This position is based in the firm’s Milwaukee office and requires occasional travel to Brookfield and Green Bay.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct all IT production and operational activities to make certain business requirements are met.  Establish appropriate disaster recovery and business continuity plans to assure business operations are not significantly interrupted.
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing and service provision.
  • Manage and provide expertise and support during deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, telephones, software applications conversions, file maintenance and peripherals.
  • Work with management to develop strategies and plans to enhance client services, improve user effectiveness and foster innovation.
  • Identify and communicate the required infrastructure architecture to support application and service needs.  Determine appropriate service levels and measure continued achievement of those goals.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and best practices, including providing written protocols and guidance to IT staff and to end-users. Ensure the creation and maintenance of all written documentation, including system and user manuals, license agreements and documentation of modifications and upgrades.
  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
  • Keep current with the latest technologies and determine what new technology solutions and implementations will meet business and system requirements.
  • Manage servers, security solutions, network hardware and equipment.
  • Manage telecommunications infrastructure and development plans, projects, policies and procedures.
  • Support the firm’s overall mission and follow all standards, policies, procedures and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Establish the IT budget, secure approval and monitor as necessary.
  • Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer and consultant contracts and service agreements.

Required Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent education and experience, along with advanced technical or managerial credentials.
  • A minimum of ten years’ progressive IT experience, including experience in a multi-office environment.
  • Experience in working with professional or legal service organizations preferred.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to build and lead a staff that delivers superior customer service to all end-users.  Must work collaboratively with the management team and have the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong communications skills are required, both oral and written; along with the ability to work with others in both authority and non-authority relationships.
  • Requires the ability to meet deadlines, to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products, and to take initiative in the development and completion of projects.
  • Strong project management required, along with strong organizational and time management skills. Must be an excellent problem-solver with analytical and evaluative skills.
