Director of Information Technology

We are searching for a Director of Information Technology to oversee the development, implementation and use of technology throughout the firm, working closely with the practice teams of the firm to assess and address user and law practice needs. Areas of responsibility include the full range of information systems and telecommunications activities, including determining user requirements, recommending practical solutions and leading firm-wide efforts to improve the effective use of technology. This position is based in the firm’s Milwaukee office and requires occasional travel to Brookfield and Green Bay.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Direct all IT production and operational activities to make certain business requirements are met.  Establish appropriate disaster recovery and business continuity plans to assure business operations are not significantly interrupted.
  • Develop and implement all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, standards, purchasing and service provision.
  • Manage and provide expertise and support during deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems, including servers, PCs, operating systems, telephones, software applications conversions, file maintenance and peripherals.
  • Work with management to develop strategies and plans to enhance client services, improve user effectiveness and foster innovation.
  • Identify and communicate the required infrastructure architecture to support application and service needs.  Determine appropriate service levels and measure continued achievement of those goals.
  • Develop standard operating procedures and best practices, including providing written protocols and guidance to IT staff and to end-users. Ensure the creation and maintenance of all written documentation, including system and user manuals, license agreements and documentation of modifications and upgrades.
  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk and technical support services.
  • Keep current with the latest technologies and determine what new technology solutions and implementations will meet business and system requirements.
  • Manage servers, security solutions, network hardware and equipment.
  • Manage telecommunications infrastructure and development plans, projects, policies and procedures.
  • Support the firm’s overall mission and follow all standards, policies, procedures and confidentiality guidelines.
  • Establish the IT budget, secure approval and monitor as necessary.
  • Negotiate and administer vendor, outsourcer and consultant contracts and service agreements.

Required Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent education and experience, along with advanced technical or managerial credentials.
  • A minimum of ten years’ progressive IT experience, including experience in a multi-office environment.
  • Experience in working with professional or legal service organizations preferred.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to build and lead a staff that delivers superior customer service to all end-users.  Must work collaboratively with the management team and have the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong communications skills are required, both oral and written; along with the ability to work with others in both authority and non-authority relationships.
  • Requires the ability to meet deadlines, to conduct and direct research into IT issues and products, and to take initiative in the development and completion of projects.
  • Strong project management required, along with strong organizational and time management skills. Must be an excellent problem-solver with analytical and evaluative skills.

Seasonal Tax Preparer

We are searching for an experienced Tax Preparer to assist in the preparation of individual, trust, partnership and corporation tax returns and other related ancillary matters during this upcoming 2020 tax season.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparation of work papers to support the U.S. Federal and State tax returns and tax return estimates/extensions.
  • Analyze and draft responses to IRS and State taxing authority notices.
  • Analysis and preparation of tax fixed asset reports.
  • Research tax issues.

Required Education and Experience

  • Accounting and prior tax return preparation experience required.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting preferred (concentration in tax a plus).
  • The candidate must be highly proficient in MS Excel.
  • Candidate must enjoy working as a team to accomplish goals within a set timeline.
  • Attention to detail and good organization skills are required.
  • Candidate should demonstrate competency in problem solving.

Legal Administrative Assistant

We have an opening for an experienced Legal Administrative Assistant. This position will be responsible for performing a wide variety of legal administrative and executive assistant duties at a high level, in support of multiple attorneys and paralegals as outlined below.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Types, transcribes, revises and proofreads legal documents accurately.
  • Prioritizes assignments and meets deadlines.
  • Coordinates and manages timekeeper’s email, calendars, contact information, tasks or similar communications activities utilizing systems such as Outlook or manual systems.
  • Coordinates the management of phone calls, voice mail messages and conference calls.
  • Prepares and processes new matters, requests conflict check and opens new files.
  • Reviews, scans and routes incoming mail.
  • Proofreads documents for grammatical, spelling and format errors.
  • Edits documents from handwritten notes, transcription and shorthand including comparisons, conversions, merges and creation of tables of content.
  • Maintains paper and electronic files.
  • Works with Records Department to maintain client files.


  • Ability to work in collaboration within a group to ensure that internal and external clients are satisfied; including understanding client’s concerns and building trust.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint, with an aptitude for quickly learning various other programs.
  • Excel, Elite, and Worldox experience a plus.
  • Excellent administrative, writing, grammar and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to work independently to find solutions to technical problems.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ relevant legal assistance experience preferred.
  • Minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute.
