Library Assistant | Milwaukee

Founded in 1967, Davis|Kuelthau, s.c. offers an array of innovative legal solutions to corporate, public, private and individual clients that range from small, midsized institutions to large municipalities and corporations.

We have an opening for a part-time (10-15 hours/week) Library Assistant in our Milwaukee, WI office.  This position assists the firm legal library with administrative tasks such as filing, copy cataloging and shelving of library materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs loose-leaf filing of legal treaties.
  • Performs general and copy cataloging of new materials.
  • Types and files as needed.
  • Shelves library materials and reads shelves.
  • Sorts and routes mail.
  • Assists with various library programs.
  • Verifies and updates information found within library software.
  • Assists with general reference questions regarding materials held in collection.
  • Performs other related work as required.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Course work or current enrollment in library science, paralegal, or legal program or library experience preferred.
  • Keyboarding and filing ability.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk or hear; and use hands to handle, or touch objects or controls.  The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, climb, bend, twist or reach above the shoulders.  The employee must occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  Must be able to push and pull objects weighing 60-80 pounds on wheels.

Part Time
10-15 hours per week
Schedule is flexible, however work hours need to occur Monday-Friday between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Part-Time Receptionist | Brookfield

Founded in 1967, Davis|Kuelthau, s.c. offers an array of innovative legal solutions to corporate, public, private and individual clients that range from small, midsized institutions to large municipalities and corporations. We have an opening for a part-time (26.25 hours/week) Receptionist in our Brookfield, WI office. This position is responsible for courteous and efficient facilitation of telephone calls and visitors.  Expedites the steady and courteous flow of internal and external communications such as incoming telephone calls and messages, visitors, messengers and delivery services. Responsible for mail distribution, office supplies and additional office clerical duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Courteously answers the telephone and greets clients. Operates telephone console to facilitate incoming telephone calls.
  • Maintains the appearance of the office. Prepares office for the work day, brews coffee and prepares conference rooms for meetings.
  • Communicates pertinent office/reception information to p.m. receptionist.
  • Troubleshoots office operational issues and communicates with building management regarding office needs.
  • Provides office meeting support and meeting room management. Responsible for conference room set up including remote video conferencing.  Orders and sets up lunch for meetings.
  • Receives, sorts and forwards incoming mail. Maintains and routes publications.  Coordinates the pick-up and delivery of express mail services (FedEx, UPS, etc.).
  • Supports the office with file management and retrieval; maintains check-in/check-out of files both physically and electronically.
  • Processes client conflict checks.
  • Processes check requests, maintains check register and writes receipts for clients.

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong communication skills.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Part time
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 7:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
Wednesday 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m.
