Davis & Kuelthau Announces Five New Shareholders

MILWAUKEE – Davis & Kuelthau, s.c. is pleased to announce that the Board of Directors has approved the additions of Alec Dobson, Aaron E. Hall, Mark G. Kmiecik, Elizabeth K. Miles and Anthony J. Steffek to shareholders of the firm, effective October 1, 2017.

Alec Dobson (Brookfield) is a member of the litigation team focusing in the health care arena. He defends long-term care facilities, hospitals, physicians and other health care providers in litigation and regulatory matters. Alec’s clients range from large, national providers to small, family-owned facilities. His professional activities include membership of and active participation in the Wisconsin Health Care Association and the Wisconsin Assisted Living Association. Alec is also an author of the “Depositions” chapter of the State Bar of Wisconsin book “Wisconsin Discovery Law and Practice”. Alec earned his J.D. from the University of Wisconsin Law School and his B.A. from Marquette University in Journalism.

Aaron Hall (Milwaukee) is member of the litigation team and has broad experience handling a variety of complex commercial litigation matters. As a former prosecutor in the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office, Aaron has logged thousands of hours of courtroom experience which has allowed him to handle a broad range of civil matters in both state and federal courts. Additionally, he has experience with litigation matters involving construction, insurance coverage and trust and estate. Aaron is actively involved with the Waukesha County Business Alliance, Wisconsin Bar Association and is admitted to practice in Wisconsin and Illinois. Aaron earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from the Marquette University Law School and his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Missouri.

Mark Kmiecik (Milwaukee) is a member of the firm’s corporate team and advises clients on international, federal, state, and local tax matters, as well as represents clients in the areas of estate planning, probate and trust administration, business succession planning, marital property, and tax planning. With over 15 years of experience, he works with individuals, couples, business owners and other professionals to accomplish their objectives while minimizing tax burdens and reducing financial risk. Mark’s practice includes planning for unique assets, international considerations, and beneficiaries with special needs. He also works with nonprofit organizations on tax and governance issues. Mark earned his Masters of Law degree in Taxation from Northwestern University School of Law, his J.D. from DePaul University College of Law and received his B.S. in Finance from Northern Illinois University.

Elizabeth (Liz) Miles (Milwaukee) is a member of the litigation team and counsels individuals, businesses, and public sector clients across Wisconsin in a wide range of complex business disputes, including breach of contract and warranty, lender liability, unfair business practices, and insurance coverage. Construction and environmental litigation are her primary focus. Liz serves on the Executive Committee for the Eastern District of Wisconsin Bar Association and is a member of the Federation of Environmental Technologists. She earned her B.A., summa cum laude, from Duquesne University, her M.A. from Boston College and her J.D., cum laude, from Marquette University Law School. In 2012, Liz earned recognition as a Wisconsin Law Journal Up and Coming Lawyer.

Anthony (Tony) Steffek (Green Bay) is a member of the labor and employment team where he proactively and reactively assists employers, both big and small, in wading through the various HR-related issues that arise in today’s employment world. Proactively, Tony helps with issues such as hiring/firing, noncompetition agreements and other restrictive covenants, disability and ADA issues, FMLA and other leave matters, employee handbook review and revision, sensitive personnel matters and investigations, OSHA compliance, wage and hour issues, and labor negotiations. Tony also provides public entities and schools, both primary/secondary and post-secondary, with advice and counsel on issues specific to those clients. Tony earned his J.D. from Marquette University Law School and his B.A. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
