MILWAUKEE, WI – Davis & Kuelthau, s.c. attorney Joseph Heino, will be recognized at the 27th Annual Wisconsin Small Business Award ceremony for his Legal Assistance award.
Nominated by Laura Schmitz of the UW-Milwaukee Small Business Development Center for his contributions to entrepreneurs in its program, Heino frequently speaks to and consults with small businesses on intellectual property issues.
Each year, the U.S. Small Business Administration provides recognition and thanks to the people and organizations that are critical to the success of small business communities throughout the country. The awards are given in recognition of National Small Business Week, an event that has been proclaimed by the President since 1963. Several other local business owners and entrepreneurs will be honored for their excellence in contributing to the state’s small business environment.
Heino received his J.D. and B.S.E.E., magna cum laude from Marquette University. He is a U.S. Patent Attorney and shareholder with the firm with significant expertise in all areas of intellectual property law and including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret law, as well as licensing and franchising.
Joe recently published his first fiction novel “Seamless,” a Midwestern ghost story that explores the unsettling possibility of inter-dimensional contact. His next book “Intellectual Property for the Medical Professional,” is due out later this year.
Heino will receive his award June 1 at the Italian Conference Center in Milwaukee.
