MILWAUKEE – Davis & Kuelthau, s.c. is pleased to announce that Kevin Lyons, an accomplished environmental attorney, has been selected by the Department of Natural Resources to serve as a disinterested umpire for an environmental remediation matter involving eight distinct parties responsible for pollution of a site in Northeastern Wisconsin. As an umpire under Wis. Stat. § 292.35, Lyons is tasked with organizing and conducting the negotiation process between the local governmental unit and the responsible parties in an effort to reach an agreement on the design and implementation of the remedial action plan and the contribution of funds by local government and the responsible parties. If the parties are unable to reach an agreement within the designated timeframe, Lyons will provide a recommendation to the DNR regarding the design and implementation of the remedial action plan as well as the contribution of funds for investigation and remedial action.
Kevin Lyons and Christopher Jaekels, fellow environmental attorney at Davis & Kuelthau, were nominated as umpires by the DNR in June of 2016.
