  • Best Practices for Building Expansions. Interested in expanding your current facility or acquiring more real estate elsewhere? Join Kevin Johnson, Director of FVM at Hunzinger Construction Company, and Michael Van Someren, associate attorney on Davis|Kuelthau’s Real Estate legal team, for best practices on building expansions and acquisitions. The discussion will focus on contract considerations and the benefits of leveraging owner’s representative services so that your management team can stay focused on managing high-level business needs during the construction process.
  • Navigating Employment Laws Unique to Hiring Veterans.  Between 200,000 – 250,000 veterans leave the military each year, others remain active but are on temporary leave. In both scenarios, many are seeking employment in skilled, good-paying civilian jobs. According to the U.S. Department of Labor, of the 370,000 unemployed veterans in 2017, 59% were between the ages of 25  – 54. Join Laurie Meyer of Davis|Kuelthau’s Labor & Employment Team for a how-to on complying with various employment considerations unique to veterans, including the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).  Know how to avoid inadvertent discrimination, glean resources for translating military resumes, and know who is covered by USERRA and what re-employment rights include. Laurie is active in the Wisconsin Veterans Chamber of Commerce, and offers first-hand perspective as a former in-house HR leader and member of a military family.

This event will take place at Generac Power Systems-Corporate Headquarters on S45W29290 Highway 59 in Waukesha on Thursday, October 4, from 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
