School and Higher Education Attorney Mary Gerbig Receives George Tipler Award from Wisconsin School Attorneys Association
GREEN BAY – Davis|Kuelthau, s.c. is proud to announce School and Higher Education Law Attorney, Mary S. Gerbig, will receive the 2018 George Tipler Award from the Wisconsin School Attorneys Association (WSAA) on November 1, 2018. This distinguished award honors individuals for their excellence and dedication to school law in Wisconsin. This is the fourth year that a Davis|Kuelthau attorney has received the George Tipler Award. Gerbig joins fellow Davis|Kuelthau colleague, Robert Burns, who received the Tipler Award in 2017, D|K alumni Paul Hemmer who received the Tipler Award in 2014, and D|K alumni Edward Williams who received the award in 2010.
George Tipler served as the Executive Director of the Wisconsin Association of School Boards and initiated the founding of the Wisconsin School Attorney Association. The WSAA assists and facilitates the exchange of information among attorneys practicing school law in the State of Wisconsin. The association has more than 120 members and is governed by a seven member board of directors.
Mary currently serves as Chair of Davis|Kuelthau’s School and Higher Education Team and is a member of the Labor & Employment Team. With over 20 years of experience, Mary serves as counsel to numerous school districts throughout Wisconsin on general school law issues and matters involving both students and employees. Specifically, she has extensive experience with regular and special education issues, Wisconsin school districts and correlating regulatory agencies, as well as labor and employment matters including contract negotiations, grievance procedures, hiring/terminating employees, family and medical leave laws, Americans with Disabilities Act, harassment and employment discrimination.
